Hi there! I’m Landi, the STEM Learning Specialist for KVCC’s TRIO program! I’ve been in this position for over 12 years, and it has been the most rewarding career. I truly enjoy helping students to succeed in math and science courses (math tutoring is my favorite part of the job!), and advising students who are working towards a degree or certificate in the health field. Having a positive impact on people trying to improve their lives is what it’s all about for me. I AM TRIO…and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Hello! My name is Laurel, and I am a proud KV TRIO alum (Liberal Studies '21), a senior at the University of Maine (English '26), and a writing tutor for TRIO students. While I mostly work remotely during the academic year, I am always available by email, and you'll sometimes see me on the Teams chat or at TRIO events. I love getting to know new TRIO students, so please feel welcome to reach out anytime for writing support - or just to say hi!

I can also provide writing support asynchronously (via email). To request an essay review, just send me an email at LDorr@mainecc.edu.
In your email, please include:
1) The draft of your assignment (preferably attached as a Microsoft Word file)
2) Assignment instructions, and/or grading rubric from your instructor, if available.
3) Specific questions or concerns about your draft—optional, but very helpful to include!
4) Assignment due date, and how soon you need feedback (I can't always accommodate short deadlines, but I'll do my best!)
I can usually send feedback during my next shift, but I recommend allowing at least 3 days for a response.
My comments typically focus on the "big picture" over sentence-level (grammar) issues - how your essay is structured, how effectively you state and support your claims, etc. I will also describe what I see happening in the text as a reader. This will help you understand what is working well in your essay, as well as identify possible areas for revision.
Some other things I can help with...
And more! If it has anything to do with writing, there's a pretty good chance I can assist :)
