PSY 206 - Psychology of Film and Literature

About this Class

A hybrid of social science and humanities, this course seeks to give practical application to many of the concepts that are presented in PSY101, Introduction to Psychology.  Students will examine how psychological concepts are represented in film and literature.  Treatment of the mentally ill, ethical behavior, accurate portrayal of mental disorders, and other topics will be closely evaluated and discussed.

  1. Critically evaluate the accuracy of psychological concepts as presented in film and literature.
  2. Communicate, both verbally and through written work, an educated critique of the works reviewed.
  3. Cite ways in which the portrayal of psychology in film and literature may impact his or her life.
  4. Apply this greater understanding in the context of appreciating individual differences and diversity of others.
