PSY 213 - Social Psychology

About this Class

This course focuses on the basic concepts and applications of social psychology, and includes such topics as attitudes, beliefs, and behavior; stereotyping, prejudice, and discrimination; interpersonal relationships; group behavior; and the effect of environmental stressors on behavior.

  1. Outline major theories, concepts, perspectives, and empirical findings in social psychology.
  2. Apply psychological theory and empirical research to explain human behavior in individuals and groups.
  3. Describe how researchers utilize methods and techniques to investigate empirical questions in social psychology.
  4. Describe cultural and social influences on identity development and self-understanding.
  5. Identity how individuals process information related to group identities.
  6. Predict the outcome of various social situations through application of social psychology principles and theories.
  7. Identify cultural and social influences on the development of identity and personality.
  8. Apply theories and concepts related to pro-social behavior to the development of positive relationships.
